M.J. Hollenbeck
Michael Hollenbeck is a four-time OAC nominated environmental photographer and cinematic storyteller whose images are inspired by the iconic landscapes, lakes, and skies of Ontario cottage country.
Drawing inspiration from the iconic work of the Group of Seven and from his grandmother, Joan Sutherland, Michael uses his heavily lived body of work to create images that capture the warmth, stillness, and nostalgia of the Canadian cottage experience.
These familiar midday moments arriving at the lake, returning from the water, or gathering with family and friends in sunlight invite viewers into moments of connection. Blending cinematic composition with expressive brushwork, Hollenbeck’s work invites viewers to reconnect with the feeling of summer memories and of quiet beauty of the Canadian outdoors.
